What is Music Therapy?
According to the Australian Music Therapy Association:
"Music therapy is a research-based allied health profession in which music is used to actively support people as they aim to improve their health, functioning and well-being. It can help people of all ages to manage their physical and mental health and enhance their quality of life".
Music therapy is a fun and motivating intervention conducted by a university trained professional who is registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association. Music Therapy involves interactive musical expriences such as instrumental play, improvisation, song writing, singing and more.
Music therapy does not require any previous musical experience or musical skill. It is the music therapists job to meet the client in the music and provide musical experiences that can assist the client in developing and improving in their goal areas.
